Islam is at the heart of RI and we endeavour to incorporate Islam into all our activities. In order to ensure that all staff uphold our values, all Muslims are expected to act as role models and non-Muslims staff are expected to uphold the Islamic rules and regulations to support the ethos of the school. This is achieved through Islamic Training days, which are ongoing throughout the year.

Our assemblies and display centre on Islamic issues, which serve to act as a venue in which all staff and pupils are encouraged to take part. Each Tutor Group bears the names of significant Islamic Scholars such as, Ghazali / Avicenna. We feel that remembering our history in this way serves to highlight the achievements made by Muslim intellectuals.

Through Ramadan programs, Eid parties, Jummah, Assemblies and School excursions we help reinforce our expectations that pupils behave in an Islamic manner at all times. Insha'Allah- not only pupils within the school be equipped with values that will enable them to make a valuable contribution to the society in which they live, but it is also hoped that they would indeed become examples of the manifestation of Islam to the wider society.

The National Curriculum is Islamised in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah by emphasising links between Islamic concepts and the subject matter. Our school timetable accommodates daily prayers in congregation and of course, Jummah is performed on Fridays.

1. Excellent Exam results
RI has a strong tradition of providing excellent academic results. Over the past 3 years most of our students have achieved level 7 at KS3. Also many of the pupils that sat GCSE’s have achieved 100% A-C results at their respective schools. Our AS/ A level students who prior to RI achieved results of D, E, F grades achieved A-C’s within 6 months. This was due to the hard work and commitment of RI staff, students and pupils.

2. Excellent Status
RI has been named as an advanced educational centre striving to help achieve greatness in all of their pupils and students. Many people have commented on the vision of RI and that ‘if the relevant financial help was available, RI would help revolutionise the community and the town’. ‘RI is also a very high achieving institution’ and is producing similar results to ‘top selective independent schools’.

3. State of the Art Facilities
RI is Blackburn’s only purpose developed education centre. Facilities include IT Lab, IT access in all rooms, fantastic classrooms, Sports facilities and excellent professional and highly educational staff.

RI’s pupil and student support has been identified by many as outstanding. You will be supported by your senior tutor, personal tutor, careers staff and teaching staff. We strive to ensure that you achieve your personal best whilst at RI and beyond.

RI has both secular and Islamic education. From KS2, KS3, to GCSE, AS / A Levels courses. Alternatively, you may wish to take advantage of our Religious Education courses which includes Hifz and Alim Class. Either way, with enrichment courses such as work placements, sports and a variety of activities to get involved in, we make sure you get the most from your time at RI.

Our main aim is to serve the community by helping underachieving students fulfil their potential. Our objective is to develop a pioneering education centre and thereafter establish a full-time secondary school based on an Islamic ethos. We believe in order to achieve success in this world and the hereafter we must acquire both Islamic and secular knowledge.

8. Student life
As a student at RI you can really become part of the centre. RI offers a wide range of extra curricular events so that all students can get involved. Charity events, visits and trips are just some of the ways you can contribute to life at RI.

9. An ICT facility
RI offers the latest IT technology, with ICT available in all curriculum areas. Students have full Internet access across the centre’s learning resources facilities and library.

10. Location
The Education Centre is a short walk from Blackburn town centre with its shops, Masjids and schools close by. Being a student at RI means that you are at the heart of Blackburn.

What is so special about RI

Text Box: Our aim is to help our pupils develop a love for Allah (SWT) and confidence in their identity as young Muslim men. This will be achieved through the teaching of theoretical as well as practical Islam based on the Qur'an and Sunnah.

By providing stimulating and differentiated work, setting tasks and goals that are achievable to all, we aim to acknowledge and actively encourage all abilities within the centre. Our target is to continuously access and positively reward the effort and progress made by our pupils. We have high expectations of our pupils, not only in academic excellence but also in standard of behaviour, appearance and character, both inside and outside school.
